12 Reasons Why You Should Switch to Opera Browser Right Now

Before we get started, have a quick look at how many tabs you currently have open.

If you’re anything like me, it’ll be ENDLESS. Tabs, browsers, ideas everywhere.

Want a hack to streamline your digital nomad life, keep your tabs organised, your apps in one place and to easily switch between workspaces and clients?

Say no more.

Opera is one of the most underrated browsers out there

I first heard about Opera after falling down an AI rabbit hole. I was searching for ways that AI could automate and help get my sh*t together.

In my humble opinion and as somebody perpetually online, Opera is one of the most underrated browsers out there. Even though it usually pops up in the most-popular browser lists, only a fraction of total users use it to its full potential.

Despite its lower usage numbers, many of the features you use in your favuorite non-Opera browsers are either introduced by Opera or turned mainstream by it. So why not go straight to the industry leaders?

Still not convinced? Ok well, the speed dial, private/incognito window, pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing, ability to turn off images and browser sessions are some of the features that originated from Opera.

Why use Opera?

In the interest of fairness, I have extensively used Safari, Firefox, Chrome and many others (yes, even AOL) before switching to Opera.

I’ve never looked back. Here are 12 good reasons to ditch other browsers in favour of Opera which, by the way - is completely free and safe.

I’m not a tech bro, so I’ve kept it simple:

1) Free VPN: Enhance your privacy and security online without extra costs.

2) Ad Blocker: Faster, cleaner browsing without annoying ads. As with the ad blocker, Opera is the only major browser with a built-in VPN. It's available without a subscription, and unlike Chrome, requires no third-party extension.

3) Integrated Apps: Built-in social media messengers and music players like Spotify. Oh and having WhatsApp built into the sidebar is super useful for quick messages whilst I’m at work.

4) Battery Saver: Extend your laptop's battery life on the go.

5) Crypto Wallet: Manage cryptocurrencies within the browser.

6) Customisable News Feed: Get tailored news directly on your home page.

7) Video Pop-Out: Watch videos in a floating window while you browse.

8) Snapshot Tool: Easily capture and edit screenshots without leaving the browser.

9) Extensions: Opera supports most Chrome extensions, while also extending the Chromium extension system to provide sidebar extensions. Sidebar extensions are great for things like Bookmarks, and I recommend V7 Bookmarks.

10) Tab Previews: I love the tab preview feature that allows you to preview the contents of a tab by just hovering over it. You can see a tab without necessarily having to switch to it.

11) Personalised Themes: You can customise the look of your browser.

And last but not least, my favourite feature:

12) Individual Workspaces: Opera lets you create individual workspaces for your regular browsing contexts. For example, you can create workspaces for shopping, travel, work, gaming, school - whatever you want. With one click on the workspace icons, you can switch between them for a dedicated window that contains only the tabs you keep there.

Opera has waaay more productivity features than Chrome. With Workspaces, Flow file-sharing and on-page conversions, the Opera web browser makes your life easier. Even though Google Chrome has a few productivity functions like a smart search bar or offline mode, it still lags behind with basic performance being much slower and draining your battery.

With built-in VPN and Ad blocker, plus protection against tracking, cryptomining and clipboard hijacking, Opera is much more private and secure than other browsers, which is ideal when using public wifi and networks.
